BLET Bridge Plan
Short-Term Disability Benefit
For Incoming New BLET Members
The STD Bridge Plan offers new incoming Members to the BLET a $450 weekly benefit for Short-Term Disabilities at a monthly cost of $40.
New Members must enroll within 31 days of joining the BLET to qualify. Coverage starts on the first of the month that BLET dues are collected and protects you until the next BLET Voluntary Group Disability and Life open enrollment. At this time, you will be contacted to transition into the current BLET GCA Plan.
For more details, see your BLET division local chairman.
Important: The BLET Division must be actively participating in a Union One GCA Group Disability Plan Underwritten by Prudential.
To successfully complete the application process for a new member, kindly ensure the following requirements are met:
1.
Evidence of Previous Coverage
The proposed new Member must have been previously covered by their railroad unions’ Short-Term Disability Plan.
Please provide proof of coverage, such as a dues receipt or paystub showing premiums being withdrawn.
2.
Completion of Application
The BLET Bridge Plan application must be fully completed with all sections of the enrollment forms filled out legibly.
3.
Submission of Application
The application must be submitted by a BLET Division Officer and include confirmation verifying the Member’s start date in the BLET, division number, and the start date of the new Member’s dues.
4.
Bridge Plan Provisions
New Members effective date of coverage will be the first of the month in which BLET dues are collected. New Members are eligible to maintain their coverage as long as they are full dues paying Members of the BLET. This coverage will remain in place until the next full open enrollment of the Division’s General Committee plan. At that time, Members will be contacted to transition into the GCA plan and will have the option to add other coverages such as Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance.
